Anodized aluminum
Six finishes
Every card is flat anodized aluminum. Where the laser passes, the colour is removed and the bright metal underneath shows through.
A note on silver
On silver, the engraving is bright aluminum on a light silver surface, so the contrast is low: the design reads best when light catches it. Choose silver for a discreet, tone-on-tone card. If your card must be read at a glance, pick a darker finish.
How the engraving works
Anodizing gives aluminum a thin, hard coloured layer. Our laser removes that layer exactly where your design has text, lines or logo shapes, revealing the bare metal underneath.
The result is one colour: engraved areas are bright metal, everything else keeps the finish. Nothing is printed, so nothing can rub off or fade.
What engraving can and cannot do
Solid shapes, crisp type and clean lines engrave beautifully. Gradients, soft shadows and photographs cannot be engraved as they are: the designer converts images to one colour, so a simple, high-contrast logo gives the sharpest result.
The cards are flat: previews show the plain colour of the finish and the engraving, with no added texture.
